Expected family additions are maintained on the Member Detail tab that is part of the Update Tenant Information and References task (Annual Recertification Process), and in the certification wizards on the Household Detail General Tab. They affect household size for income limits and are reported on HUD-50059. For USDA reporting, expected family additions are included on the RD 3560-8 in Part II, Line 8a.
Adding Expected Family Additions isn't its own task, but part of certification tasks that have steps to update member information (Interim Recertification, Unscheduled Recertification, Process Application, Update Application, AR - Update Tenant Information and References, AR - Receive Verification Forms, AR - Create Certification, and AR - Recreate Certification)
Types of Expected Household Additions include: Adoption, Pregnancy and Foster.
The "Effective Date of expected household addition" is defined as the date that the tenant finds out about the expected household addition. The "End date of expected household addition" is defined as follows: for a Pregnancy, it is the expected due date and for an Adoption/Foster, it is the expected date of when the adoption or placement of the foster child will be finalized
When an expected addition turns into an actual household member, accounting for both "sides" at the same time will increase the accuracy of the household size calculation by providing date continuity, therefore, add member tasks have a step to "expire" this Expected Family Addition.
