Assess Late Charge at the community level

This task is used to assess Late Charges for all tenants who are late with payment, for an entire community or all authorized communities at one time, based on the Late Charge Method(s) assigned to the community(ies) and Funding Program Group(s).  The Late Charge Method can be set to charge for Rent only, All Receivables, or All Scheduled Receivables.

Accounting Detail General Information Tab Select the To-Do List Assess Late Charge Activity select the community from the context bar drop-down list Tasks Assess Late Charge

To Assess a Late Charge:

  1. The community will appear in the middle of the screen - verify that you have selected the correct community to assess late charges.

  2. Enter the Assessment Date.  For example: if your Late Charge Method is set up for 15 days grace and you want to assess late charges for the February Rent billing you would enter an assessment date of 02/16/2006 or later.

  1. Click Finished.

An Overall Status window will pop up with a Passed or Failed message.

If it failed you may need to make a correction or contact Bostonpost Client Support at myMRI or contact a Client Support Analyst directly at (877) 579-8896 for assistance.

If it passed click Close.

Expected Result:

The Late Charge will appear in Event History and the Open Items section on the Accounting Tab -> Receivables Tab of each household who is late with payment, based on the Late Charge Method.

Q. How do I see which households were assessed a late charge?

A. You run the A/R Select Receivables Report and choose the Late Charge receivables type in the parameters.

Troubleshooting:

I completed the task yet no late charges were assessed on any households in the community
