Terminate Assistance

You can use this task when a household no longer qualifies for assistance. This task becomes available after you have sent the third notice to the household for their Annual Recertification, but have not received a responsive.

To terminate a household's assistance, follow these steps:

1.         Go to Occupancy and Compliance > Annual Recertification.

2.         In the To-Do List area, select Send Notices.

3.         In the Send Notices list, select the household for which you want to terminate assistance.

4.         Go to Tasks > Terminate Assistance.

5.         In the Last date that the household is eligible for assistance field, enter or select the date of termination. This is the first day on which the household will no longer receive assistance and will also be used as the effective date of the certification.

6.         Select the EIV Indicator check box if the Enterprise Income Verification system found information resulting in the termination.

7.         In the Termination Reason field, select one of the following reasons for the termination:

        Did not supply citizenship documentation—Select if the household did not provide proof of citizenship.

        Did not re-certify on time—Select if the household did not recertify on time.

        Double subsidy at move-in—Select if the household received an incorrect subsidy when they moved in.

        Ineligible student—Select if the head of household is a student ineligible for assistance.

        Subsidy contract expired-not renewed—Select if the subsidy contract has expired.

        Tenant refused to transfer or submitted false data—Select if the tenant provided incorrect information.

        TTP equals/exceeds gross rent or moving to market rent—Select if the tenant's total payment is equal to or greater than the gross rent rate.

Note

The TTP equals/exceeds gross rent or moving to market rent reason cannot be selected if the household for which you are completing this task is counted in the RAD program.

 

        Contract terminated for enforcement action - HUD USE ONLY—Select if the household's contract has been terminated.

        TRACS generated termination for failure to recertify - HUD USE ONLY—Select if the recertification for the household failed.

        Natural disaster or uninhabitable unit—Select if the household's unit is uninhabitable.

        HUD abated rent—Select if the rent for the household's unit was abated after an inspection.

        Substantial rehab or repair - Tenant expected to return—Select if the household's unit is under renovation, and the tenant is expected to return upon completion.

        Resident did not qualify for subsidy at MI or IC - Not Double Subsidy—Select if the household did not qualify for a subsidy when moving in or on their Initial Certification.

        Other: A reason not covered by any of the other codes—Select if none of the listed termination reasons apply.

8.         Click Next.

9.         A message appears confirming that the task passed or failed. If the task passed, on the message, click Close.

10.    If you want to print a document, select the check box on the line for the document, and then click Finished.

11.    A message appears confirming that the household's assistance has been terminated. On this message, click OK.
